CSS3 makes it possible to programme effects that until now were only possible with Flash
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is a language that enables you to define how the contents will appear on your website. Until recently, only margins, font sizes, colours, items positioning and little else could be defined. CSS3 offers a better integration on different browsers (in old browsers getting your website to appear as you wanted it was very hard work). It can be used with or without JavaScript and can achieve impressive effects, such as shadows, animations, round edges... and this is just one of the strengths of this technology known as HTML5, which gives designers much more freedom to surprise users with original and spectacular designs.
Some new features it offers include:
Border radius: this feature allow you to give a round edge to borders of elements, without the need to use strategically positioned images, reducing the web’s load and making it more adaptable to future changes to the design
Box shadow: for creating any kind of shadows on any element within the web.
Gradient: makes it possible to use a colour gradient as a background colour.
Transitions: for generating animations, such as zoom, rotation…
Transform: this applies transformations such as perspective, rotation, changes of scale…
All these features make it possible to avoid using scripts or tools such as Flash, making the website much lighter, and above all more spectacular.
